San Marzano Tomato Plant Start
Grown by us on Lundy Farm
Provided by All Hearts Farm in New Paltz, NY
San Marzano tomato start in a 4″ pot—ready to thrive in your garden or container.
Description
Grow your own San Marzano tomatoes with this healthy, organically grown start in a 4″ pot. San Marzanos are classic Italian paste tomatoes, prized for their rich, sweet flavor, low moisture, and meaty texture—perfect for sauces, canning, and cooking.
Unlike indeterminate varieties, which produce fruit continuously throughout the season, San Marzano is a determinate type, meaning it sets most of its fruit all at once over a focused 2–3 week period. This makes it ideal for preserving, batch cooking, and stocking up on sauce tomatoes.
Expect deep red, elongated fruits about 3–4 inches long, ready to harvest roughly 75–85 days after transplanting.
Care Tips:
Sun: Full sun (6–8+ hours per day)
Spacing: 18–24″ apart in rich, well-drained soil
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist, especially during flowering and fruiting
Support: Short cages or stakes help keep plants upright
Feeding: Apply compost or balanced organic fertilizer every few weeks
With the right care, each plant will reward you with a bountiful, concentrated harvest—perfect for capturing the flavor of summer in every jar.
