the CSA experience
CSA, or Community Supported Agriculture, is a good-faith agreement to support a local farm directly by purchasing a share of their bounty. prices are below or comparable to market price for organic in grocery stores in nyc
our CSA is similar to the multi-farm platform, Farm to People, except I am a one-person show transitioning out of software and into farming, desperately needing support at this early time in the farm in order to build a foundation and be able to support building a family and the next chapter of my life
I also feel its important to be an alternative to a grocery store, so to offer all the food groups, I am partnering with other farms and businesses upstate to bring New Yorkers a diet full of health by wholesaling from a dairy, bakery, creamery, orchard, beef ranch, and atlantic wild caught fishmonger all local (< 100mi or so) to nyc
I am growing vegetables for your boxes, but until we grow beyond a one-person show over the next few years, I am supplementing with vegetables wholesaled from neighboring farms who are certified organic by NOFA-NY
last year, we had just about every vegetable you can think of in the box, according to what’s seasonally available at the time
we are offering an Any Veggie CSA, Mostly Salad CSA and Add-ons for other food groups May to November 2027
how no-till farming heals the earth
soil health
preserves soil structure, enhances microbial activity, and increases organic matter, leading to healthier soil
water retention
improves moisture retention, reducing irrigation needs by maintaining soil cover and structure
reduced erosion
minimizes soil erosion by keeping soil intact and protected with plant residues or cover crops
biodiversity
encourages a diverse ecosystem of beneficial insects, earthworms, and microbes, promoting natural pest control
carbon sequestration
helps store carbon in the soil, reducing greenhouse gases and improving carbon cycling.
cost effective
lowers labor, fuel, and machinery costs by reducing the need for tilling equipment and passes over the field
why join a CSA?
local means…
1) so flavorful you will taste the difference between grocery store veggies and local veggies picked at the height of ripeness and..
2) so fresh it will hold in your fridge longer than store bough produce
(both are customer testimonials from the ’25 season regarding our carrots and lettuce respectively).
“I want to have a direct connection to my food and serve those in my community.”
