Since finding the land, I have considered what saying hello to it looks like.

I met this half acre in late fall, two years after it had been farmed, on some of the warmest late-fall days I have ever experienced. As it’s gotten colder, as I prepare for farming next year, I with little relationship to it hope to understand it’s warmth and abundance without being able to experience its warmth and abundance for the time being. It’s a lesson in a cooling of my own desire and the first time I have faced the cold while more fully understanding the natural necessity of it and its relationship to the soil.

I am feeling called to ritual. I asked my deck what kind of ritual I could do and I pulled the 3 of wands.

On the card, an ornately robed man of stands on a cliff overlooking a port watching the commercial ships on a cloudless day and rests on one of three sticks while being protected by the other two. Things are good.

I would like to dedicate 3 wands (fence posts) to the 3 pillars that will protect and sustain our farm.

The first pillar being the concept of “long term goals”. The second being wherever we are at any point in time with our “current efforts” and the third pillar being “opportunities i wish to attract”.

These pillars, when installed in the ground will support our electric deer fence and contain a full acre, half that i’m not farming, half that i am. They will be a constant reminder of the journey we are taking and I would be so thankful for anyone who would like to dedicate some of their energy to wishing All Hearts Farm all the best.

Please bring warm clothing, layer up! Bust out the Carhartt. Overalls or snow pants are really nice to have. Hat and gloves are also a massive win. I like to follow a 3-layer system. Base layer, insulating layer, and windbreaking layer.

We will be sitting on the ground, feel free to bring blankets, carpets, yoga block, or a pillow for your comfort
